Paging Da Beard..Da Beard To The Steelers Defensive Line, Please.
Why not? Sure, it is highly speculation at this time. But who’s to say it cannot be a reality..besides the people making the call of course.
The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a devastating offensive loss in Maurkice Pouncey, as well as a devastating defensive loss in Stephan Tuitt at the DE position. Shortly after the game I received this tweet from IASW group member and blog follower, Chip Cunningham:
After the game, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuitt suffered a sprained ankle. Albert Breer added the defensive end would miss a couple of weeks as he tries to recover, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. So what’s to prevent reinstalling a player that has been there..done that?
Tuitt was a second-round pick in 2014, appearing in all 16 games last season (four starts) and recording one sack. He figures to be a bigger part of Pittsburgh’s defense in 2015, though his injury could force the team to rely on backup Joe Kruger more than initially planned.
Not taking anything away from Krueger, but with a 2014 defense that ranked 27th in the pass, 6th in the run and 8th in scoring. The key stat(s) in this situation? The run and scoring. Because most run plays occur at the goal line, Keisel was a part of that.
Besides the run stopping ability, Da Beard also came away with an unforgettable interception..so he can aide in the need of pass defense as well. Granted his 17 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception don’t come off as staggering numbers, they come off as a veteran who can improve Krueger’s game.
So why not? Why not bring back one of the most intimidating defensive ends in the game? I know a lot about a lot of things, two being the military and football..and re-signing Brett Keisel is a no brainer in my book
