Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is a top-five quarterback and nearly a top-five player in the NFL, Around the NFL editor Gregg Rosenthal wrote.

He and others from NFL.com released their personal top 10 on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the NFL 100’s Wednesday finale, which will reveal league players’ collective top 10. Three Steelers have already been voted as among the best 100 in the league by their peers.

Maurkice Pouncey ranked 83rd, Roethlisberger is 26th and Le’Veon Bell is 16th.

And while NFL players don’t rate Roethlisberger as highly as Rosenthal did – none of his Around the NFL co-workers included him in their top 10 – the editor wrote that the Steelers’ signal caller has been underrated for years.

“Roethlisberger has always been an underrated, top-five quarterback. Now he’s in a system which is numbers-friendly, so everyone realizes.” -Gregg Rosenthal, NFL.com

Roethlisberger tied his career high in touchdowns with 32 and broke personal season records for passing yards, attempts, completions and completion percentage.

The top 10 spots of the NFL 100 will be revealed starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday on the NFL Network.

Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is expected to join Roethlisberger, Bell and Pouncey on the list.
